I am still alive

I am holding off intentionally on posting an update because I want to build a little anticipation for my current progress.  My diet at this point is top secret, but I can tell you that I have increased cardio to 30mins a day for 4-5 days a week.  

I will win this competition again this year for my club there is no question about that, but can I win for all the Atlanta area clubs, we will have to wait and see.

Starting dropping calories in Week 5, also added in some carb cycling.  I never drop carbs completely and I usually wont go lower than 75-100g/day.  Keeping protein at 1g/lb body weight and the rest is healthy fats.  Love me some natty peanut butter!  Salmon is another good source.  Bumping my cardio up to 30mins @ 4 times a week to help the shedding process along.  Cant believe I am almost at the halfway point already.

Here comes the pain!

I am dropping my carbs from moderate to low this week to kickstart the shedding process.  I had 75 carbs all day, and I did a 1.5hr back workout tonight with some abs and calves thrown in for good measure.  Strength is still going up.  Waist is getting smaller.  I am craving pasta right now, but i will resist the urge!  About to grill my salmon for my last meal of the day.

Week 4 is complete

Yesterday i did biceps and cardio in the afternoon and legs at night.  Today i did triceps and abs in afternoon and i just finished up with shoulders tonight.  I love two a day workouts.  But I am in recovery mode until probably Monday.  Clean diet just at or below maintenance.  Grilling salmon right now to go with my chick peas.

Well here we are, a couple of days in to Week 4 of FitTrip 2012.  This is the last week before I begin my cut, and I am ready!  I am tired of being FAT!!  I have added 20mins of cardio a day to my routines, basically starting my 2 a day workouts this week to accomodate for cardio.  I am also eating just at or no more than +1-300 cals above BMR.  I will be cutting certain items from my diet as I progress through the last 8 weeks, but I will keep posting that information here.  I had an epic solo chest workout tonight, feeling exceptionally strong and the muscles are very full.  But I am really anxious to start leaning out to see the definition that I am lacking now.  I have over 16lbs more muscle than last year so this should be interesting.  Thanks to all my friends and family that are supporting me again this year, I love all you guys and could not do this without you!

Back workout at the Plex last night with Big Jim.  I threw in 20mins of low impact cardio.  One more week of calorie surplus before I start to cut.  Workouts are incredible right now.  Getting close to time for a photo update on my progress.

Week 3 is a wrap…

I finished off the week with 90min shoulder and arms routine.  I am rockin my new J4 earbuds and they are helping me get through these brutal workouts.  One more week before I drop my calories down and add some cardio to start slicin and dicin.  Some interesting facts so far in this years FitTrip: I am drinking 3 gallons skim milk a week, 3lbs turkey and 5lbs chicken breast a week, and 2lbs steak and 2lbs of salmon.  Here’s a tip for when you go grocery shopping, stick to the walls, that is where the healthy foods are, if you start going down the aisles you get in to the processed garbage.

Packin it on, one pound at a time.

Did a really nice chest workout at a new gym last night, it was a YMCA gym so it wasn’t packed with the equipment i liked.  But they did have a nice hammer strength incline chest press.  I hit it for about an hour then relaxed in the hot tub and sauna.  Tonight i hit legs at BodyPlex, today was a high carb day so I am feeling good right about now.

Back to work…

Started off the week right with my Back routine at BodyPlex.  I even got to train with my old training partner Jim.  Earlier today I did abs, calves and 20mins cardio.  This is the first cardio I have done all year.  I will slowly transition more in as needed to reach the level of detail i want to attain.  

Overall  I am very pleased with my progress moving into week 3 of FitTrip.  I have dropped about 20lbs in the first two weeks, which was to be expected because I was carb loading to come in at a higher weight.  My waist is shrinking like crazy and i am seeing more definition and vascularity.  I feel like I have a new level of focus that has developed over the past week.  Everything is very positive in my life currently and I am very blessed to have all the people around me that support my passion.

I haven’t posted any updates recently because my personal life has become insanely busy.  But trust me I am still hitting the gym hard and gaining muscle while leaning out at the same time.  Still no cardio for me just lots of weight training.  Taking some much needed recovery time this weekend and getting back to it on Monday.
